Description

A sweet toaster-oven lesbian romance that asks whether the one we’re meant to be with might be right under our nose.

Reserved tattoo artist Riley Foster has just moved apartments and can’t take her eyes off the single mom who lives next door. Riley is trying very hard not to succumb to the cliché of falling for the straight girl as she gets to know Kim Jackson, an outgoing baker with an adorable nine-year-old son.

A friendship forms and Riley even finds herself roped into playing Kim’s fake girlfriend to get her meddling family off her back.

What could go wrong…except for Kim suddenly questioning whether she’s not as straight as she thought! As the sexual tension slowly builds, it’s hard not to wonder whether they’d be good together for real. But is it worth risking a great friendship if Riley doesn’t feel the same way?

I stayed up waaaaaay too late on a work night to finish this. Worth. It.

    Quick Thoughts:
    – Single Mom AND Fake Dating? Talk about a double dose of Kryptonite
    – The interactions between Riley, Kim, and Tyler were so cute.
    – Speaking of interactions, I also liked the friendship between Kim’s Ex and his fiancée. It reminds me of my mom and her first husband’s friendship
    – Okay, I really liked all the side characters
    – This book walks that fine line between moving the timeline forward by skipping some scenes and including them
    – There was a bit at the end when they’re telling Tyler about them that his dialogue feels a bit old for him
    – I liked how Riley and Kim had different likes and strengths but the same core values and sense of fun
    – Consent is sexy

Overall I had high expectations for this book and it delivered. Rachael Sommers is quickly becoming an auto-buy for me. This is the third book I have read of hers and I loved all three.
