Henriette – :
f/f hot summer romance
This is the perfect read for a hot summer day – maybe at the pool, definitely while relaxing. And serendipitously I took this ARC with me to read while vacationing and soaking up the sun on the Canary islands. So I had not only the perfect setting for this romance but super-perfect because the book is set on Tenerife, the biggest island of the Canaries.
It all starts with a fling, a fling that burns hot for several weaks (sleep is vastly overrated, right?). Casual sex is routine for Elena who is a charming player and life-guard at the hotel pool, not so much for Lucy, the somewhat uptight American hot-shot lawyer who has recently been badly burnt and heart-broken. Just when the fling is about to cool down a bit Lucy gets involved with helping Elena‘s family in a critical situation: bringing Lucy deeper into Elena‘s family and maybe her heart. I liked the family vibe this development brought to the story. It made the turn from fling to forever believable. I loved that we get to see Elena‘s and Lucy‘s life after the vacation. The secondary characters are a good addition.
Having been many times to Tenerife I was a bit astonished that except for two short excursions the book is set mainly at the hotel / house of Elena’s parents when there is such a stunning landscape literally in the backyard.
If you are looking for a light, low angst and hot summer read this is for you.
Thanks to Ylva for the ARC. The review is left voluntarily.
Betty Harmon – :
In Too Deep by Rachael Sommers has everything you want in a summer vacation novel. A much needed sabbatical to a beautiful island is just what New York City lawyer Lucy Holloway needs, especially after the disaster her life and workplace have suddenly become.
Physical therapy student Elena Garcia has come home during her summer vacation from George Washington University to the island to work at the hotel her father manages. As a lifeguard she can combine work and pleasure. Elena and Lucy decide a vacation fling is just what they both need; lots of fun with no complicated emotions. Of course, those pesky emotions have a way of sneaking in anyway. Add a sudden mystery involving Elena’s father and Lucy’s promise to help Elena’s family, and we have the makings of a wonderful age-gap, vacation romance with a side order of mystery.
You couldn’t find a better setting for this book…a lush tropical island with all its beauty as well as a volcano (not active, thank goodness) to provide even more gorgeous scenery. Both the setting and the people are well described. Lucy and Elena’s romance is both erotic and emotional. The mystery adds to the overall excitement of the story.
This novel would be a great book to take on vacation, or even just a satisfying weekend read. I know I enjoyed it.
I received an ARC from Ylva Publishing for an honest review.

A lawyer (Lucy) on a holiday, a very long one because forced out of the job and a young woman (Elena) on a break at home, both ready for a fling, are finding their chemistry more appealing than not. When Elenas father is accused of stealing money from the hotel he‘s managing, Lucy is more than willing to help Elena and her family finding the truth. They fight for justice together and are ready for fighting for their love. A good read, even better if you‘re really on holiday and can enjoy some sunny days, too.
