I was pretty excited to hear this book was coming out and I wasn’t disappointed, in fact, it was a great read with complex yet delicate characters.
Kelli’s crassness is confronting but it works really well with the character and is interlaced with charm and humour leaving you wishing she was your friend.
Nora is unapologetic with her own quirks as both characters are drawn into each other’s worlds.
Definitely a recommended read

“…wrapped in warmth, and the feeling settled in the places that got cold at night.” KD Williamson understands character development. She’s an expert at weaving the human experience, developing several layers for readers to uncover. It was a great read and made me what to experience falling in love once again!

This book made me happy!
Many funny moments and great chemistry between the two main characters made this book a fun ride.
The interaction between the socially incompetent doc Nora and loud mouthed cop Kelli had me laughing out loud in several places.
Warning: Once you’ve finished this book, you will get drawn involuntarily to Rizzles fanfic and will have a hard time finding a Maura as good as the Nora in this book. Can’t wait for the next one in this series. And the one after that… 😉

Great read! This book has some of the wittiest dialogue that I have read in a long time. I found myself laughing out loud. You really get to care about the characters and how story line will turn out. Ms Williamson takes great care in her character development. Look forward to reading more of her work!

Who doesn’t love a strong cop and a sexy, smart doctor?!
This is the first book that I have read by KD Williamson but it won’t be the last. I discovered a new author who I will be keeping tabs on and be on the lookout for new books to read along with the next book Crossing Lines with Kelli and Nora. Kelli was a fun character to read and get to know, she is loyal to her friends and family, she is the strong one that everyone relies on and she has some great wit that made me laugh. Nora is more the quiet, mysterious, serious character that I was slow to like but by the end I saw how her and Kelli worked together and fit the opposites attract adage. Kelli worked to make Nora softer so that the reader could connect with her, and Nora made Kelli work for it throughout the entire book, so the reader wasn’t sure what the ending had in store for them. There were a few times when I felt like the pace of the book was a little slow but it wasn’t enough to distract me from wanting to find out what happened next, maybe it was just my impatience that made me think that and my desire to see where the author was going next. Overall I found this to be an engaging book that I think others will like because who doesn’t love a strong cop chasing after the sexy, smart doctor!
I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I bought this book after the teaser already hooked me up on it. Instead of waiting for my vacation trip I read the book within 30 hours (work kept me from reading it in one day) and I loved it. Kelli’s teasing is very entertaining and it’s interesting to see how Nora reacts to it and how she later responds in almost the same way. Dealing with serious topics with humor is something I try to do too (like Kelli more than I should do sometimes).
The only thing that annoyed me on the first thirty pages was the permanent swearing. Not because of the swearing itself but it were almost the same two words all the time so that was a little bit … I don’t know, variety would have been nicer to read.
I hope there will be a second part as I want to know what happens to Anthony (was it an empty threat or not), does Nora continue to change at work and in her personal life and how does Kelli feel being back at work, when Travis returns?

Feel good story
Kelli is a tough, foul mouthed and impatient cop who has been shot in the line of duty. Her partner has been shot as well and may never walk again, her brother is back on drugs and her mom lives in a permanent state of denial. Nora is a solitary creature. Shes a no-nonsense, by the book, stuffy surgeon. For some reason she has a calming effect on Kelli and Kelli has a way of bringing her out of her sheltered world. When Nora is suspended can Kelli help her from walling herself off completely?
I liked the characters in this story. Kelli is a bad ass who faces life head on. Nora is so sheltered and closed off. She is use to being alone, unable to trust anyone. I felt so badly for her.
The story itself was pretty great. Both women were struggling with their own personal issues but together they balanced each other. When one was angry or upset the other was able to be strong for her. They made an excellent couple. I loved watching Nora come out of her self imposed prison and become a warm and caring woman.
The conflicts in the story were good and handles very well. I am eagerly awaiting Ms. Williamson’s next novel!

AMAZING! Think about what you always expect to happen in Rizzoly and Isles show… it is what you will find in this book. It’s like the best rizlles fanfics ever!

I just finished reading Between the Lines and all I want to do is read it again. I could totally relate to some of the emotional and social issues the characters were facing throughout this very powerful and moving story. It’s a book I can easily pick up and read again and again, because it is so thought provoking, emotionally honest and extremely sexy too. This lesbian slow burn is now one of my faves – I’m looking forward to Ms. Williamson’s next book. ?

Hearing opinions and recommendations from others about this book made me curious to read it, but I think that maybe I was expecting too much from it. I loved reading this book, but it was not the ‘’Do not disturb me, I am reading. ‘’ type of book for me.
The premise of a cop getting injured and finding herself stuck in a hospital, surrounded by a doctor who clearly has more important things to do than getting teased by a patient was good. It caught my attention and intrigued me a lot. My favorite part of the book is the first moment we get to see Nora help Kelli. It is great to see Kelli finally stop trying to be strong and brave, someone who doesn’t need anyone’s help, and accept Nora’s. It was so raw and pure, I almost wish the whole story was as pure as this moment.
Don’t get me wrong, the story is good, the characters were nicely written, but I found they lacked a lot of backstories. For example, there is so much importance being given to Anthony, or Travis, and their personal problems and struggles, for a character we almost never see in the book. We do know they matter a lot to Kelli, but their story is being touched so lightly that it could have been put to the side or replaced by more meaningful moments since I personally don’t think they bring anything more to the story. To be honest, Anthony annoyed me so much, it felt more like added words to the story that an important member of the family who Kelli cares that much about.
Then, you have Nora Whitmore, a career driven woman, who loves being in control of everything in her life. She somehow ends up meeting and interacting with Kelli, who she finds arrogant and annoying at first. She is also living in a sterile-like environment, living by a tight schedule, which is also the first moment we get a glimpse of how much Kelli is disturbing her, by troubling her inner balance and precise schedule.
Her getting to know Kelli came in at a weird moment in her life, while simultaneously losing almost everything she has, career and reputation wise to an angry misogynist man and his ego. It didn’t sit right with me. Having someone clearly known as not guilty having to waste so much of her time in a fight to clear her name of all allegations. I don’t think it should have been the focus of the book, or at least not hold that much importance into the story.
I really did love the moments they spent together, trying to learn about each other and how fast they realized they had feelings for one another. But the come here/go away parts got the best of me. At first were okay, then they became a bit annoying to me. Not because it wasn’t good, but more because it became predictable, making me worry all the time whether they were finally on the same level or if there would still be a wall built and continued unshared fears between them.
I do believe this book will please a lot of readers since it is a good story and it is well written. Most of the downside I found where personal impressions on the backstory of the characters, but they don’t take away all the hard work that was put into the book. Looking at it from another point of view, I think maybe most of the problems I found were because the story came from a Fanfiction, therefore, the background story that is missing to me, might have been available, if I had known the original fandom from which it was written from.
I do believe this book deserves a chance because even if it didn’t rank as one of my favorites, I still enjoyed all the time I spent reading it. And if you are familiar with Rizzoli and Isles’ story, it might make the story even better for you.

I’ve always loved a good medical drama. I love the stories even better when the author mixes a medical tale with cops. Knowing my love of a good cops and docs story, it’s strange that I missed the Cops and Docs series that begins with Blurred Lines by K.D. Williamson. Thankfully, I’m reading this series now.
We meet Kelli McCabe when she and her partner Travis are shot, and both are brought to the hospital with life threatening wounds. There we meet Dr. Nora Whitmore, who eventually becomes Travis’s surgeon, but who also can’t seem to stay away from Kelli’s hospital room. As Kelli slowly recovers, the two become friends, though the chemistry between them hints at much more. Kelli is very gregarious, outspoken, and definitely has a potty mouth which becomes even more pronounced as she recovers. Nora is the ultimate ice queen. You would think these two could never mesh. Never say never though.
When tragedy threatens both of them in different ways, the two work together to help each other leading to a gradual friendship and maybe more.
This is a charming slow-burn romance that had me hooked from the first page. It has everything you need for a great cops and docs romance from the two main characters, the chemistry between them, the outside forces they must overcome, to the slow growth of friendship that turns eventually to something more. This is the first of a series of books about these characters, so the story doesn’t completely end with this book, thank goodness. I can’t wait to start the second book and find out more about these wonderful characters.
