Ylva author Cori Kane has an addiction—stories. We’re talking about in books, certainly, but also in movies, TV shows, and songs. In short, she’s always on the hunt for a good story.
Which is great news for us. We love good stories.
Kane’s new novella The Affair, which we will publish in May, is no exception. It poses the thorny question—can new beginnings rise out of the ashes of infidelity?
We had the pleasure of publishing Kane’s cheeky, bantery, “A Lesson in Magic”— a featured selection in our 2014 lesbian short fiction anthology Wicked Things.
With The Affair, Kane takes a more dramatic turn, in a story about two work colleagues who find they share a common attraction but have one big obstacle in the way of a happy relationship together: both of them happen to be already married to other people.
Working so closely together on a promotional campaign for a new perfume has lured coworkers Linda and Robin into an extramarital affair that neither of them expected and that both see as nothing more than a guilty secret, a respite from their troubled lives at home. But what starts out as an impulsive act of passion quickly transforms into much more. Soon it’s clear that these two competent professionals are making all the right decisions at work, but that falling in love could be the best thing to ever happen to them or it may be a grave mistake.
Stay tuned for more news on this affecting romantic drama, The Affair, available for purchase in May, 2015.
