After reading ‘Not-so-straight-Sue’ I was courious about Cheyenne Blues next book. ‘Fenced-in Felix’ is another story of longing for the one, love, horses, friends, living in the outback of Australia, a little bit of mystery. All in all I really enjoyed it, it was an easy reading, although there are some words or things they only have in Australia 🙂 and I had to google it.

Having read the previous novel in this series by Cheyenne Blue I was so looking forward to ‘Fenced-in-Felix. I was not disappointed. Felix runs an outback experience business which includes a campsite, cabins and horse riding. She becomes friends with the new barmaid from the local pub, Josie, through their love of horses. They are both attracted to each other but move so very slowly and really need a bit of a nudge in the right direction. Friends Sue and Moni are the ones to provide that nudge. I loved that they were in this book too as their story from ‘Not-so-straight-Sue’ was fantastic. They bring visitors from England, Nora and Geraldine and it is then that a mystery starts to unfold. As Felix begins to look into this it brings a new dynamic to her relationship with Josie that I was not expecting. The tension between them is so well written and I found myself becoming annoyed at both of them. I defy anyone not to be frustrated by their stubbornness! I really appreciated that this story was a mixture of romance and mystery as it really added to my enjoyment. Another winner from Cheyenne Blue and I look forward to a further instalment.
I was given this ARC by Ylva Publishing in return for an honest review.

This is another beautiful romance, set in the outback of Australia. It’s the third book in the Girl-meets-girl-series.
In this story it’s about Felix, we met her in the second book, and Josie. I love this two girls, I can see some resemblance to me in both persons. There’s the grounded, honest and a little shy Felix, who doesn’t have much experience with women who she’s attracted to and who lived her whole life in Jayboro. On the other side the straight forward Josie with her heart on her tongue, who is traveling the whole country, to wherever she finds work. And always after a few months she’s looking for a new challenge.
They were drawn to each other from the beginning. When Josie visited Felix in Jayboro, it’s the first time in her live, that she thinks about to settle down. Could it be with Felix in Jayboro? Is Felix looking for the same kind of relationship she wants? But when she brings her horse Flame to stay at Jayboro, the twist and turns and mystery begins.
Felix is conflicted about her feelings for Josie and the lies, she has found out, that Josie has told her about Flame. Can she trust her again? Can she overcome her insecurity, doubts and her pride? Will the traveling girl really be ready to stay with her in the outback?
When the two of them find the keys to the solution of the racehorse theft, they have to spend some days togheter. Maybe they will find a way to theyr hearts again.
It’s a beautiful story about love, trust and friendship, and the not everytime easy way to find it. The mistery of the missed racehorse adds some tension and excitement. I also loved very much that the main characters of the first and second book had their presence in this book too.
It’s another lovely story from Cheyenne Blue. I’m looking forward to her next book.
Thanks to Ylva for the ARC.

Although this is book three in a series I feel it can be read as a standalone. In fact, in some ways I wish I had read it as such, or perhaps let more time lapse between this story and the last so the details weren’t so fresh in my mind. The reason I say that is because when I first met Felix in Not-So-Straight-Sue, she was outgoing, made no bones about her attraction to Sue, and gladly popped Sue’s Sapphic cherry. However, in this story, Felix is standoffish and has no clue how to flirt, her words. Granted three years have lapsed since book 2, so anything could’ve happened to transform her personality.
I was excited to read about Felix’s new campground and amenities, and while some of the content is about getting her business up and running, the greater plot revolves around horses. Not only trail rides but also the mystery of a missing race horse. At times the story dragged for me, however that could be because I’m not a huge fan of horses or horse-racing.
Josie is an interesting character, and even though there’s chemistry between the two leading ladies, I’d not call this a romance. A slow burn perhaps, but even the ending didn’t have that heartwarming ‘awe they got their happy ever after’ feel to it.
The highlight of this story for me was when the characters from the first two books came to visit. Oh, and sitting around the campfire eating damper. I felt like I was there, could taste the melted butter and jam.
I enjoy this story overall and have no qualms about recommending the entire series to others. On a final note, as with any book published by Ylva publishing, the story is exceptionally well polished.

This is the first book I read from this author and I really enjoy it. The characters are interesting and it offers a glimpse of different worlds than the sophisticated metropolis. It’s a small town in Australia’s outback and I had to do some research to understand what kind of scenery we were talking about. The story is well written, a little slow in the beginning but then the suspense starts and the book gets more interesting, however I believe that the mystery and suspense could have been better explored. In the end it’s neither a overly romantic book nor a suspense/thriller book. When I finished I get that feeling that it was good but it could be better. Good read for a cold weekend in front of the fireplace.

This book is part of a three book series to date. The series is called Girl Meets Girl, I haven’t read the first one and I wish I had but I’ve now read 2 and 3. They can be read individually but a lot of references will make more sense if you’ve read the previous 2. But the author explains enough so yes it can be read as a stand alone novel. I really enjoyed this one as there is a mystery to solve and there are a lot of dead ends. It’s really hard to put down as it catches you from the first to the last word. It is really well written and funny in some places especially when they are cooking crocodile. Read you’ll understand and be probably giggling away. Enjoy, I did.

‘Fenced-In Felix’ is a great addition to Cheyenne Blue’s Girl Meets Girl series. This book is number three in the series, but since all of the books can be read as stand alone stories, you can start with this book if you wish. I’ve read the stories out of order and enjoyed them all.
This story is about Felix Jameson, a businesswoman who owns and runs a small campground in the Outback of Queensland in Australia. When Felix meets Josie, a drifter working at the bar in the nearest town, she wonders if she might finally have met someone she could fall in love with, but there is a mystery involving Josie and the horse she wants Felix to board for her. This mystery could not only hurt Felix and her business, but might break her heart as well.
I met Felix in the second book of the series called ‘Not-So-Straight Sue’, and I’m really glad that Felix got her own story. I like the way Ms. Blue weaves the stories and the characters together in the books, but still manages to keep them as stand alone stories. It was fun to see Sue and Moni from book two and even Ger and Nora from book one in this story line. I’m also envious of these characters being able to live in such a beautifully described setting. I do hope I get to visit the area one day.
‘Fenced-In Felix’ is a heartwarming love story with a beautiful setting and a pretty complicated mystery surrounding the romance. I can definitely recommend that you read ‘Fenced-In Felix’ as well as the other books in the series.
I was fortunate to receive this book as an ARC from the publisher in return for an unbiased review.
